PEGGY STEPHAICH GUINNESS JEWELLERY

The Sebastian Guinness Gallery is pleased to announce an up-coming show by New York jewellery designer Peggy S Guinness.

Peggy draws inspiration from her extensive world travels in South America, the Orient, and beyond. It is through the large and richly hued semi-precious stones from these exotic locations that Peggy S. Guinness finds her expression. On a visit to Sao Paulo, Peggy developed a deep love for Brazil. Meaning to stay a week she stayed in Brazil for eleven years, basking in the vibrant and dynamic culture that shines unmistakably through her pieces. Her exquisite jewellery pieces may be described as works of art in their own right, and understood as a creative response to the myriad cultures, customs and crafts she has so joyfully encountered.

Peggy S. Guinness works with the natural form of each stone, while never compromising the individual forms of her unmistakable settings. The contrast of striking linear cuts against softly rounded polished stones, is a sensual delight. Although the pieces are not of traditional size, the subtle balance of organic form and innovative craft technique ensures that they are easy-to-wear and suitable for any occasion.
