KENNY SCHARF
Scharf was represented in the 1985 Whitney Biennial, the most well-attended Whitney Biennial to date.Following the exhibition, Scharf’s painting was acquired for the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art, one of the world’s foremost collections of twentieth century American art.The Whitney further honoured Scharf when in June 1997 he was included in the Keith Haring Retrospective, which examined the relationship between Haring, Basquiat and Scharf. These are just two highlights of an impressive career spanning twenty-six years, during which time Scharf has produced a consistently strong body of work. Sohno Molhado, 2006 (60 x 72inches) is a vibrant canvas, clearly showing the influence of Scharf’s friend and mentor, Andy Warhol
